Olympic National Park

It is sometimes hard to believe that Mount Olympus, the tallest peak in the Olympic Mountain range, is only 7,980 feet in elevation (2432 m). On the other hand, the mountains rise precipitously from the lowlands surrounding Port Angeles, contributing to the appearance of great height.

Mount Saint Helens National Volcanic Monument

The volcanic cone inside the Mount Saint Helens crater is still steaming 40 years after she blew her top. You can see evidence of this in the gray volcanic dust coating the snow at the summit of the mountain (above middle).

Mount Rainier National Park

Part of the magic and beauty of the Pacific Northwest are the towering snow-clad mountain vistas, and at 14,411 feet (4392.5 m), Mount Rainier towers over all of Washington State's mountain peaks.
