Located at Discovery Bay, Fat Smitty's is a hamburger joint reminiscent of Bob's Big Boy. Except, quirky! As in, decorated dollar bills stapled to the ceiling. And in fact, if you'd like to leave your own, there are markers at every table that you can use to personalize your $1. Every few years, just before the weight of the $$ damages the ceilings, they take all the money down (thousands of dollars!) and donate it to charity.

The food itself is generous, and delicious. It's a great place to stop if you're en route and hungry. Because if you're in the area, you are no doubt en route to somewhere.

While not located in the historical district, Fiesta Mexican Restaurant is nevertheless easy to find. It is located on Hwy 20 which is the main drag into the historical downtown area.

It must have been around 8 p.m. when I and my friends stopped here for supper. Granted, we were hungry, but this was some of the best traditional Mexican fare I have ever eaten.

You’d certainly expect a “refreshingly modern old-fashioned Ice Cream Parlor” in an old Victorian town. And additionally, the ice creams, sherbets, and Italian ices (non-dairy) are all homemade on the premises.

Beside ice cream, you can obtain espresso coffees and home-baked desserts.

Their candy shop next door features candies, chocolates and truffles, plus other international-brand specialty candies.

Washington State Covid-19 Status

As of July, 2021, Washington State is now generally open. However, current state mandates require masking for all indoor activity outside of ones own home. Additionally, there is a state mandate requiring restaurant patrons to provide proof of vaccination for indoor dining. Due to logistical difficulties, some restaurants are still open only for takeout/drive thru. HIPAA guidelines about privacy for medical information regarding indoor dining does not permit enforcement of covid mandates.
